It's incredible fun and rewarding. It's a good start for new danmaku players, but at the same time it can be a hellish experience for those who want a challenge.And the soundtrack? It's so good! It kept me pumped up all the time!. Blue Revolver is a very well made Shmup that's fun for both Shmup fans and people new to the STG genre. I'd recommend it for anyone interested in trying out an arcade style bullet hell game with a high amount of scoring depth that's you can ease yourself into.. High quality cave/raizing inspired shooter (there's even a bit of mars matrix in there). If you like dodonpachi at all this game is right up your alley. There's also quite a lot of depth to the weapons.Theres a great soundtrack, and multiple announcers and quite a few extras to unlock. 5 thumbs up. cute and cool. Accessible, but challenging. Super stylish, but maintains all that retro shmup goodness. I think this a good place to start if you are trying to step into shmup/bullet hell!. Great game! 2/5. It reminds me off one of my favorite shmups, Dodonpachi. This game is legit, legit, legit.. To preface, I'm someone who enjoys STGs but is bad at them, so this review will take place from that perspective.Blue Revolver is a rare STG that is both accessible to, and accommodating for newcomers, but still offers a lot of challenge and scoring depth for hardcore genre enthusiasts.The game is mechanically similar to most bullet hells on the face of it, but has a score system I think is something that most players can find enjoyment in throughout their playtime, as opposed to say, Mushihimesama, where many new players will ignore the system after the first level, if they are even aware of it to begin with. The flow of building up a short chain on weak enemies, then cashing it in on a group of more powerful foes and watching them explode in cascades of gold is so satisfying that I find myself taking big risks, even though as a player I'm only focused on survival. There's also a ton of variety in shot and special weapon types, so if the default isn't your style you have a lot of experimenting to do.For players who aren't confident pitting themselves against an unbroken run, the game offers a Mission mode, with short, punchy challenges that start off simple and ramp up, each one building on the last. Some of the more creative ones are Invisible Bullet, where bullets disappear when they approach you, and Matador, where one large bullet relentlessly hunts you throughout the level. Far from being gimmicks, these missions teach newbies good shmup habits, like looking ahead to bullets and planning proactively rather than focusing solely on your ship, and moving around the screen rather than hugging the bottom edge. Aesthetically the game is a joy, with a lot of love clearly being put into both the protagonist and the enemies, a rarity in STGs. The character designs and VAs are adorable, and will enamour the waifuhunters in the crowd. The enemy ship designs are somewhat boxy, but this choice seems to be deliberate, as it favours clarity in gameplay, for instance when deciding what part of a boss to target first.The music is excellent, hard pumping electronic music that isn't too harsh or overbearing, but sets a tempo for the player to blast through the level with.Overall, I think Blue Revolver is a game that can hold its own against the big boys of the genre, and is certainly the best Western-developed STG I've ever encountered.. Good shmup with nice art and waifus.. love it, keep em comin
